Description

Reported and Exempted categories get a detailed MOU naming tests possibly required by AICIS to prove the basis of the categorisation.

Listed requires a written undertaking, from the person who knows, to provide the CAS number/name (or proper IUPAC chemical name if no CAS assigned) within 40 days as follows:

  • The name by which the chemical is known to the introducer
  • Contact details for the person who holds the CAS information
  • A statement confirming that the person who holds the information, if asked, will provide the CAS name and CAS number (if assigned) within 40 working days from the date of AICIS request
  • A statement confirming that the chemical is listed on the Australian Inventory of Industrial Chemicals
  • Information regarding the terms of the Inventory listing (if applicable)
  • The date that the person who holds the information gave the undertaking to the introducer

Note: the date should be prior to introduction of the chemical as a listed introduction.

We amended the MOU code to include the above statements for a listed chemical when the Introducer does not know the CAS Number/Name.
